Gentlemen, I am here to tell you a secret that male models have known for a long, long time. If you listen up, your self confidence and opinion of yourself will sky rocket. All horse owners will know how much aggravation and health problems worms can cause. The related health conditions are a serious concern and can include; weight loss, Colic and anaemia. Foals are more susceptible to worms and they can also stunt their growth so it is important to ensure that a worming treatment is given as recommended.

Worms are most commonly contracted during the grazing season as they thrive in warm and damp conditions. As worms are easily ingested by grazing it is very important that faeces are regularly cleaned from the paddock where your horse grazes. If your horse also shares a paddock with other horses you should liaise with their owners to worm your horses at the same time to ensure the worming treatments are most effective.

When choosing which  Horse wormer  to use it is important to be aware that each treatment will protect your horse against different species of worms. It may be good to seek advice from your vet and other local horse owners to discover which species of worm are most common in the area. It is also a great idea to change the wormer you use frequently to provide adequate protection against a wide range of worms and to prevent worm resistance to the chemical wormers which are common.

Horse wormers also come in a variety of suspensions making it easier for you to administer the wormer to your horse.

Eqvalan provides adequate protection against a large variety of worms and is a paste wormer. The tube should be inserted into the corner of the mouth and the plunger pressed. This will help to ensure that the horse swallows the paste and cannot spit it out. Eqvalan is also safe to be used on pregnant and lactating mares.

Strongid comes in granule form which can be added to food. This is great for horses that will happily eat their food when a worming treatment has been added.

As a final note seek veterinary advice before administering any wormer to pregnant or lactating mares to ensure they are safe to give and during which trimesters they can be used.
